The kind of day that makes you want to live forever.
It's all free and easy but happens almost never.
Like the best book I've ever read but the ending I know,
yeah, that's the way it goes.

And we don't feel like we're heard.
How come so few get the life we all deserve?
Anyway, sometimes the way it goes in our heads,
isn't how it turns out in the end, any way.

The laptop's fine. Wish we had a record player.
Our friend doesn't use hers but we don't want to pay her.
Like a bad movie with the ending predictable,
yeah, that's the way it goes.

All the things that we don't talk about
are the kinds of things that are coming out anyway.
Talking's hard when I have my doubts.
Maybe flowers will grow at the end of the drought.

When it can't get any worse but then comes another,
when I feel like I just can't do it any longer,
I think of how it could be, if we made it so.
