In the lakeshore waves outside
I hear you get up in the night
for a glass of water.
Seven years since death came through
but you know that I still think of you,
imagining you so.
I still run the motel through
the summer months and weekends too.
It wears me down now.
My friend, that you chased away,
had come to visit. Now she stays.
It’s been a year long.
I’m afraid to sleep.
I never know now where she’ll be.
Her eyes follow me.
Everywhere I go she sees.
I still couldn't tell you her name
and you know I tire of her games
but she’s all I have.
How she hates the matador rug.
So, I sleep the bed it hangs above
but she howls at the door.
The only room I get any rest
has green carpet and a single bed.
A statue of Mary over me.
I’m afraid to sleep.
It doesn’t matter where she’ll be.
Her eyes follow me.
Nowhere I can go I’m free.

He arrives.
In only so many short words,
the light there
is difficult to describe.
And I may deny
in my so many short words.
At least I've picked my side.
And I travel far
to learn what I already know.
With ghosts at my heels,
I'm gone.
And I am a son.
You've learned what I already know.
Though, it may not please
anyone.
Short steps.
Through the woods, I'm sneaking off.
You say I'm a coward
in your eyes.
Short breaths.
Through the trees, I've made it off.
Imagine who you are
in mine.
God grant me the sight
to see through this evil veil.
I'm scared my enemies
are right.
And I arrive.
In only so many short words,
at least I've picked my side.
Wind
on the water.
I am gone.
So lost.
Gold
in the rocks
far from home.
So lost.

Cage - Stripped
03:18
|
|||
And on the land where nothing grows, in under trees, abandoned homes, houses burn where fountains flowed. The motor age and no one goes.
They built a cage, with the steel of the blind men, that's overflowed. Overflowed and destroyed them.
The factories have closen down. They've given up their dying town.
They built a cage, with the steel of the blind men, that's overflowed. Overflowed and destroyed them.

No Light - Stripped

Black hole
carved so deep into the forest floor.
A wall
of the tallest trees surrounds the darkest caves door.
At the bottom of
the world so far above,
found the finest collection of
feathers and skulls and skin all for us.
Under miles of dirt we've found our new home.
Buried so deep, now we're always alone. Into
the dark our foundation grows.
We don't need light when the light doesn't come so low.
We'll all be alone.
Until the foundation grows.
We'll all be alone.

Unburied Keys
02:20
|
|||
Hallucinations, I know are inventions of mine though I see them out there.
You can't escape the past even if you're aware.
At the top, it's waiting for you if you go to the top of the stairs.
The climb is a killer though. Most of it isn't fair.
Trees in the sand, enough wind will topple them. "Planes into buildings is fair." Falling like dead birds to shotguns from way up there.
Hallucinations, I know are perceptions of thoughts placed by those who should care. Trying to escape the past now that I'm aware.
On the road. I feel more comfortable leaving than if I stay there. Hours spent searching in the dark to find a flare.
Unburied man, a shovel reveals to my eyes while the survivor stares, who fell like the rest before them frozen and scared.

So, I am leaving and this day must end.
And, where I am going, I won't come back again.
But, I'll wait on the other side right where I am.
When I close my eyes you'll know when I land.
For me it's so hard to believe in this world.
We war for black liquid and still starve the poor.
We pay taxes to fund things, yeah. Who knows what for?
I'll wait for you to walk on through the door.
I remember when I was still young.
My father would craft me my pretend guns
and the first thing I'd do is point them at those I love
and pull the trigger until they were gone.
We may lose our loved ones sometimes.
Children die before their parents kill them with lies.
The youngest go first. Let's form into lines
and wait for them to ring our necks and our spines.
Then we'll fall.
So, I am leaving and this day must end
And, where I am going, I won't come back again.
But, I'll wait on the other side right where I am.
When I close my eyes, you'll know when I land.
